Although wall beds are generally used in dual-purpose rooms, they are also perfect for daily use in studio apartments or homes where all space is prime real estate. When outfitted with a comfortable and suitable mattress, there is no need to only break out the wall bed with the fancy towels.
Wall beds open and shut using pistons, which are relaxed when the bed is closed and compressed when the bed is open. Wherever you choose to use one, it is important to keep the wall bed closed when not in use. The testing requirement for these parts is set at 10,000 cycles, which translates to 27 years if opened once per day; allowing the pistons to routinely relax is crucial to their longevity.
This may require adding a little more discipline to your morning routine if you are not a bed-maker. While sheets can typically be left on, pillows and thick blankets cannot. Plan for a few minutes to remove and stow these items away, unlock and fold the foot mechanism, and close the bed. There is evidence that making your bed every day can make you happier, more successful, and lead to a better night's sleep. While these are not included in the warranty, we are hopeful that a wall bed will improve your quality of life!
