The blower fan for the fireplace gently moves air in a forward direction away from the fireplace insert, but you would not be able to feel the movement of air from more than a foot away. Although units larger than the 18" model have adjustable thermostats, the blower for all units operates in much the same way; you could not adjust the fan to a higher or lower setting.
